Mixed Instrument Workshops

Instrumentation:

You can bring pretty much ANY instrument to this workshop.

The main focus is to play music together . Depending on your abilities, you may be given just a single note (or one chord) to play! It's where you play it that's important & you'll be given lots of guidance.

Jamming is such fun. It's the easiest way to enjoy the sublime experience of playing music with others. Seasoned musicians will be playing lines to delight us all, but the most of us, we'll be playing just a couple of note, or a couple of chords, for long enough for that to become hypnotic. Then – we'll carry on until you start to levitate.

Dave will give signals when you should drop out - & come back in. Some surprisingly satisfying moments will come when you're not playing at all…

Almost no experience is required. If you have none, you'll be given a single note – or chord, & you'll be doing a lot of listening & a lot of counting. DON'T be intimidated. DO come along. ANYONE can join in. However unmusical you THINK you are.

All cool:

  • Guitars
  • Bass
  • Keyboards
  • Kit Drums
  • Vocals
  • Strings
  • Woodwind
  • Brass
  • Ukulele
  • Flute
  • Whistles
  • Percussion

You do need to bring an instrument though.

Ability:

You can be pretty much a beginner - or be rather good! If you can really get around your instrument, you'll be give lead lines or the chords you need. If you're starting off, you may get just a single note to play – or chord.

This workshop is about getting us to make a noise pretty quickly. It's not about teaching you how to play your instrument, although you may learn a little about that along the way.
